The internet has become the most used communication platform. From Wechat Weibo comments, to concise 280 words of twitter statements. People have become more willing to express their thoughts and views, in which they hope can make a difference to the society. This is also true for design. Architects have received a rising number of requests on specific needs to the design briefs. However, when designing for a larger group of people in highly dense regions, the design goal becomes general and vague. As big data increases its capacity, the data collected can enable us as designers to accommodate the needs of these people. The objective is to create an apparatus that visualizes the complexity and creativeness when people and city users participate in the design.
Reverberation chamber is an experiential and site specific pavilion sculpture that seeks to provide unique experiences to visitors. When the rectangular “bricks” are flipped, the visitors can create many combinations and different variations. Every time a component is being turned, it would affect the overall pavilion making it a unique experience.
By definition, Reverberation is the persistence of a sound after its source has stopped, caused by multi reflection of the sound within a closed space, this period is called the reverberation time. By using the rusted and mirrored surfaces, the two polarized materials can create a shimmering affect which reverberates our vision. This effect enables people to be aware of the surroundings as well as being conscious about themselves.
